The Tricorn Hotend, developed as an open-source project, is a modern 3D printer hot end design that combines performance, reliability, and ease of assembly using a few innovative upgrades. It features an inverted heat-break for improved thermal isolation, support for efficient 4 mm heater cartridges, exclusive use of M3 and M4 fasteners, and mounting compatibility with M3 Dragon systems. The design allows for dual cooling methods—either air-cooled or conduction-cooled through a metal plate—and offers two melt-zone length options: a long version of about 53.5 mm with nozzle or 48 mm without, and a short version of about 41 mm with nozzle or 35.5 mm without. Testing shows it can hold a heatsink temperature near 118 °C when the hot block runs at 260 °C in ambient conditions without active cooling.
